Turbo or S carpet fit an '83 944???
I bought an '83 944 with a blown engine, I've already lined up transplant from an '86 NA but the interior in the '83 is shot. I've come across quite a few decent looking carpet sets from Turbo's and S's but nothing from an '83 to '85.5. I'm wondering if the "late model" carpet will fit? I'm not so concerned with the center console carpet just the front/rear/hatch carpet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I also need the seats recovered, are there any off the shelf pieces, or is a matter of taking it to a custom shop? $$$

it will, but not well at all. and you'll have to drill some holes in the new stuff.
I put a late carpet in my 924S once. just so I could have some carpet in there.

Thanks for the info, I'm almost at the point of any carpet would do if I could make it fit nicely. The body is decent and other than the hatch it wouldn't take too much work to refresh, but the interior is a deal breaker, it's just plain nasty right now. If I can't find something reasonable I'll just part the car out. I also have an '86 944 with mint interior that I'm pulling the engine out of if favour of (944 purists close your eyes, cover your ears and yell LA LA LA LA) an electric motor, 115hp, and ~300ft lbs of torque and no more oil/power steering leaks, timing belts or other related problems!!! (and it's air cooled, doesn't that mean I'm half way back to "true Porsche" LOL) I bought the '83 with blown engine mainly for the manual steering rack, but I will have all the parts to make a nice running car which I could then sell, and keep one more 944 out of the scrap heap. But I'm not going to hack it together, there is no point in passing headaches or poor workmanship on to someone else, that just sucks.

The front carpets I put in mine were out of late cars. The drivers side fits okay, there is a little bit of a problem around the gas pedal, you may have to enlarge the hole. The passengers side is completely different I suspect because of revisions to the firewall and passenger footwell area. I had to build mine up with foam because it seems the passenger footwell is much deeper on early cars.
