Default Speedo sensor or something else

My speedometer will not work after I have driven the car and park it for a short period of time (20-30 min). Works after driving car again for 1 min or so. Is this the sensor going out or something else?

Check for a loose wire on the cable to the spedo sensor. I had a similar problem and it turned out one of the pins on the cable was wiggling around.

On the other hand, mine was doing that and it was the speedo sensor. I took the old one apart, and it is a simple reed switch activated by a magnet. Those reed switches have a definite, well-known life expectancy and I'd bet it's real close to 100,000 miles of pulses. Someone clever should come out with an electronic piece, it isn't rocket science. BTW a guy has a few on eBay for $95, new in box. I got one two weeks ago and it solved all my problems.
