Arrow NC Meet: Maybe a spring get together?

I know we have gone over this before but the idea just seems to keep dying. I would really like to get a 924/944/968 meet together, maybe for sometime in the spring? Also I was thinking that we could use one of the local Auto-X's as a good excuse to get together. The Triad sports car club comes through winston salem more than a 1/2 a dozen times every year and it would be a great accasion to gather some of cars together and given them a good running.

The is one in W-S this weekend if anyone is interested.

I'm in. I've gone to almost all ones the Triad SCCA has put on in the last few years and they are great; good courses, run well, great folks. It's almost too good because we get plenty of folks from all over NC, and many times don't have enough time for fun runs. I did the tune-up Autocross a few weeks ago (my first in a 944) and was very impressed. Only about 2 seconds off the FTD on a stock non-M030 with street tires. That 207 ft-lbs really comes in handy. I had run the last two years in a fairly stock 1980 528i which actually held its own classed in with Mustang 5.0s and LT-1 (!)Camaros. I'll be there this weekend if anyone else can make it. Details for all the locations are on www.auto-x.com Hey Ian is your car still in charlotte?

JB,

It is down in Charlotte, but I may go pick it up and bring it up for the weekend. It needs a good running.

Ian

PS: If we do have a few 944's this weekend we should get a few parking spots next to eachother.

I am SO in. I'd love that, and have been wanting to plan something for a while. Trouble is, car is still overheating. I got an estimate of about $500 for a complete gasket job, although I'm not too sure if it's even the gasket. I'm going to do some more trouble shooting to check it out. My battery is charging right now (for some reason it died).

But yeah, I'd love to drive up 40 and meet up with you guys. I think Raleigh is a good middle ground area, although I'm not sure how much you Charlotte guys would like that. Raleigh is about 2.5 hours from where I live.

Let me know,
Matt

Hey! I like that Raleigh idea - I'll float the thought with the 944 types at tonight's PCA (Hurricane Chapter) meeting in Cary.

About that PCA meeting... I've been meaning to hit one of those up but as you know the car isn't going much of anywhere right now. Should be fixed shortly and maybe I'll make it to next month's meeting.

What the heck do you all talk about there? Porsches?

Real informal dinner - with much Porsche discussion - and then some club business, discussion of upcoming events, and perhaps a guest speaker. It is a good, and growing, group. The chapter presidetn, Jerry Magolan, usually emails details to everyone he knows is a chapter member. His email address is jmagolan@aol.com.

I get emails from him all the time - it's good. I just need to make my way up there.

Thanks. Let's make it some time in April? Maybe the 2nd week in April?

Count me in for an NC meet, I'll favor the Raleigh area also, as the city center is about 20 min. from my house...

PS: I'll try to stop by that auto-x, but I'm supposed to go to another event this weekend with NASA in Virginia.

There were at least 6 944s at last night's Hurricane Region PCA meeting (out of around 25 people)! Most were interested in an April gathering in central NC. Just need to avoid the Hershey weekend. Ideas for location/date?

If we wanted to do it In Winston-Salem I would do the leg work and find a place to have it, I have a couple of ideas in mind, but it would not be too hard to put together. If we wanted to have it at a restaurant I could have a section reserved for us, but lets just keep the interest up I would like to see a gathering put together.

Also for all those going to the Auto-X this weekend I will be there in my black 944 pictured below. Hopefully we will have good porsche representation.

Well I gave my friend who owns a resaruant a call today and he said he would be happy to do it. He would just want to know how many people were coming so that he could reserve the seats for us.

So if we can pick a date I'm sure we can work this out. Maybe some time in April?

Please do it in LATE April. I am pretty busy the first couple of weekends in April, and I would really like to participate. Anywhere is fine with me, just as long as when Argento overheats and explodes one of you fellas will come pick me up on the side of 40.
