Thinking it would help out the intercooler. Anybody got a link for a nice fiberglass piece?

Automotion and Tweeks sell the fiberglass unit. I am getting one since my stock unit is trashed, they are ~$280.

SFR, Huntley, and I am sure others will cut the panel too for ~$175

I haven't, but I would go with SFR if I were you. It looks really professional and I'm sure they will do it to your liking. The pro's of having it cut I think outweigh the other, in that it's your part to begin with, you know it fits, you don't have to paint it, you can have whatever size hole you want, and it's less expensive.

a buddy of mine had the vented fiberglass nosepanel from performance products. it flew right off at 140mph. all the screws and bolts were still intact on the car. the panel simply broke off at that high speed. maybe with some added reinforcement and extra screws to hold it into place more securely this wouldn't have happened.

it did look nice though beforehand

i'm still looking for a local shop to cut mine...

I'm hoping to find one that looks similar to the nose panel on a 924 Carrera GT. Rotsa Ruck, huh?

I had mine cut by a body shop since I was repainting it because of rock chips. The fit on the fiberglass ones are not that good. You will spend more time fitting it than it will cost to cut yours.

P.S, ...The body shop charged me $175.00 w/o the paint. He actually reinforced the panel after he cut it and added metal to direct the airflow towards the intercooler.

The 924 Carrera GTS has one as standard. It is quite cheap when ordered from a P-dealer. And you get the small plastic "grilles" too, not just the plate with holes. Se my webpage under "turboconversion" for pics. www.diateam.no/porsche

So Eirik, the 924 piece fits a 944 without modification? Do you think it would fit a 951?

Don't the front fenders (had to delete 'wings', forgot you lot speak American ) look too long in Erik's picture??

Maybe it's just me, but I think that the older model's panel looks shorter!

Also, just checked PET, and the part numbers are different 944 pre85 to after. Definitely indicates something wouldn't fit right.

It sure fits on the pre 85.5, im not sure if it fit the later body style. I always thought they look similar, here are two pictures to help you compare. The red Porsche is a picture found on the internet.
