DME Fried?
If the DME is fried in a 951... What will happen when you try to crank the car? will it crank at all? Trying to rule some things out with this engine install... everythings done..cept the car won't start

Heres what happened. The DME chip got put in backwards, and we tried to crank it up, and it didnt turn over... so I opened the DME and realized I obviously didn't pay enough attn when I put the chip in, and instead of lining up the notches on it, I just used the sticker on the chip the orient it (apparently they dont face the same on all chips...Doh!)... so the chip could have gotten fried, or worst case... the entire DME...best case...both are allright. I put the stage II chip back in (properly), and it still wouldn't crank. Engine became hydrolocked, so we pulled the sparks out and blew out all the gas out of the motor.. so now we're letting it dry out over the weekend. Going to have to give it another shot Monday... going to hook up a spare DME Monday to see if that is the problem... which I hope isnt!

Putting the chip in backwards can fry it. Cross your fingers.
For the cranking issue.. I have had the DME out of my car, and still can crank it. You have another problem. Starter, dead or low voltage battery, or a bad connection somewhere.

Hydrolocked= engine ingesting water and not being able to crank/turn or run. Generally resulting in a broken con-rod.
You just 'flodded' the engine. If it's not running with the old chips I'd try to replace all the spark plugs as they may be fouled.

Wow, hold on it didn't crank or it didn't catch?
If the engine didn't turn over, you definately have another problem. If it didn't start (**But turns over!**)with another set of chips installed correctly, I would try replacing the plugs. Speaking from personal experience here, sometimes cleaning alone doesn't work. Might save you from a big headache, cost you less than $10 for a set.

Ok.. let's clarify. You said early on that the car would not crank (as in turn over). The later posts tell me that it will turn over, but it will not run.
You have fuel since you fouled the plugs. When cranking, do you have spark?

Perry has a good point, you need to check the spark before replacing the plugs. If the DME was damaged it could cause a no-spark condition that would leave the plugs full of gas. I will assume that the car continued to turn over, if it was hydro-locked it wouldn't...I had a boat engine hydo-lock and it burned up the started lead trying to start it.
