v8 in 944?
I recently came across some infromation pertaining to putting a 350 in a 944. Does anyone know how bad this will affect the cars handling? Ive been the the renegae hybrids website and checked all the info there. I wanted to hear from some people who have done this. Anyone?

Three Wheelin'
I was chatting via email a while back with a guy that owned a 944 w/ a LT1 and 200 shot of nitrous. He said it was amazingly fast...and it was just damn scary with the juice. I would love to ride in one of those. I wouldn't imagine it making the handling to bad as long as you made the appropriate suspension changes...

This is possible. And yup, it's fast.

I'm in the process right now. The car will be a monster plus they are reported to handle very well still.
Some things to consider. The conversion does not affect the weight of the car adversly. It puts the awesome natural 944 weight distribution forward only I think 4%. 220lbs Autocross springs in teh front will remedy this problem. RH actually tried a LS-1 convo (that didn't end up working) but the LS-1 is actually lighter than the stock 944 engine 4 banger. They said car actually sat up with the stock springs. upwill remedy this.
Brakes also have to be modifyed. No more brake booster. There are always people trying to improve the system but as reported by other SBC conversions the brakes work fine unassisted. They just used SS brake lines and better break pads and the car stops fine.
But who cares about handeling when all the other corvettes, mustangs, and m5's will be eating your dust on the straight aways. But the handeling will compete with all those as well.

Checkout 'Predator'at p-caronline for some pics. You can e-mail me for more info. We have converted 4 944's, 1 928, and are currently converting a '95 968. Use tried to engineer a LS-1 conversion, but came to the conclusion that it was not worth the trouble. Maybe in the future? My personal 944 gained 120 lbs, 80/40 front to back. We have clocked the car 0-60 in 4.5, 0-100 in 9.7, 70 to 120 in 9.0. Mathmatically, the car will top out north of 180, but?? It is a joy to drive and very stealthy.

You see the "problem" is that my friend here has a 95 m3. I am an *** and I want to be able to slaughter his car on the track. Will this be possible with the 350 small block? How does the 944's handling compare to an m3 anyways? Thanks.
