Early cars use the 2-way jumper, not the 3-way.

So could you see the tach needle bounce before when it wasn't starting?

thats interesting ?

how does that work then ? As far as I can make out from the 1994 N/A schematic it still uses a DME double relay . You'll need to take the 12v+ to both the fuel pump and the ECU in order for the car to start and they are fed by two seperate relay terminals withing the DME relay housing

no idea what the heck is going on, car started up fine again yesterday and i took it on some errands and it kept starting fine, ran beautifully all the way to fuel-cutoff in lower 3 gears

I'm no electrician but when I had an '85.1 and the DME relay failed, I got around using a simple jumper wire between two terminals. I once had to use a jumper on my 968 and I found out my jumper needed another wire.

The DME relays must be different on the two models then. Looking at the schematic it looks like there are 2x relays in the can and 3x connections need to be made . Maybe the schematic is wrongly labeled as pre 85 ?

I'll check out my Haynes and the Clarkes site again.

dme relay on early has 2 circuits in it...one for fuel pump power, one for dme power
