Karl is an excellent driver and his business Racers Edge is one of the best in the country at preparing cars for racing and track use. He won all 3 races he ran in while at the Glen last weekend, not an easy task given the competition.

Karl is the man. He turns 1.38's at Road Atlanta. The next fastest cars in his class are around 1.41. He also has a BMW he does some events with. Car hadn't run in over a year, he did some engine work on it (picked up a lot of power), and went out and set a class record his first time in the car. Then proceeded to better it by 2 seconds. There was only one car out there as fast as him, and it was TWO CLASSES better than him.

He also is one of the nicest and most helpful guys you'll ever meet.

Damn, is he married??

Apart from Karl's talent as a driver you can see that car is clearly well set up. To just throw it into a nice little drift straight up with such ease and control speaks volumes. Not to mention the balance of these cars from the get go. That's all n/a too. Wonder what he'd be like with forced induction?

Some say he was born like a pheonix from random road debris and that his heart is race inspired with 4 valves per chamber instead of 2... All we know is... he's a helluva driver.

Yep, with kids. They've been seen around his shop a fair amount.

The S2 is actually the better track car due to rules. For E-Stock, it can run 10" wide tires in the rear, and 8.5" ones in the front - the Turbo can only run 8's and 9's. The S2 is very, very responsive to a good header design, but the Turbo needs more stuff that is against the rules to really wake up. The 3.0L has more torque (until the turbo spools), making it quicker coming out of turns.

But, Karl's driving ability combined with his ability to set up a car is really what makes him so good. He is a very rare breed.

Sandbagging at the start can be dangerous.

That's a pretty bold accusation. Find me someone who has raced against him who will make that accusation and get back to me. Until then, watch the video, and note how much later he brakes than everyone, and how deep he brakes. He is fastest through the turns, not the straights. I can't find any reason he'd sandbag from teh start when he is sitting out front, anyway.

Is there any more video? That one runs out way too quickly.

Weird rule about the variance in tyre size too? They must assume the turbo guys are cheating so penalise them first. Sort of guilty till proved innocent...but we've made the rules so go away now forced induction guy....

Walebird-He is definetly not sandbagging from the front the 911's are just faster down the straight; Karl is smoking them in the braking zone and through the turns.

Love the late brake, I think is scares the 911 on his right, no idea when he is going to cut
the corner. Brilliant!
