The 85.5 sunroof does not have plastic gears like the later cars. There is a flex drive that goes into a gear box that actuate the two retract arms. The micro switch between the sun visors can sometimes be cleaned with elect. contact cleaner. Have you checked the motor and drive operation located on the left side of the cargo compartment? Your baby just needs some TLC, take your time and do it right.

Another question I have though - I installed the microswitch between the sunvisors and the sunroof worked for 3 days. Now it doesn't work again. Is there any way to test the Main relay in the fuse box, and how do you check the two directional switches on the back of the sunroof motor rail? Clarks garage has me confused so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
