The 85.5 sunroof does not have plastic gears like the later cars. There is a flex drive that goes into a gear box that actuate the two retract arms. The micro switch between the sun visors can sometimes be cleaned with elect. contact cleaner. Have you checked the motor and drive operation located on the left side of the cargo compartment? Your baby just needs some TLC, take your time and do it right.

Cheers,
Larry

Haven't updated in awhile, but just got rims back today, here is one painted!

Done a bunch more stuff, cleaned insulation off of hood, and more! Hope to post pictures this weekend.

How did you repaint the center caps?

I need to paint mine seeing as they are graphite now.

Sorry for the slow reply, I used Duplicolor high temp wheel paint silver to color them, then Duplicolor spray gold for the crest, then Red and Black touch up pens for the detail work, and cleared with Duplicolor high temp wheel clear! Turned out great as far as I'm concerned!

Another question I have though - I installed the microswitch between the sunvisors and the sunroof worked for 3 days. Now it doesn't work again. Is there any way to test the Main relay in the fuse box, and how do you check the two directional switches on the back of the sunroof motor rail? Clarks garage has me confused so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Cummann! There is paint on the tire, runs and debris in the paint.

Good for a daily driver or winter wheel.

Got the sunroof working, just dropped it off at the body shop about an hour ago. Here's to waiting!
