Post Wiring Harness Clips

I know this discuss was raised about a year ago by another person, with any response.

I have been trying to locate a number of clips that hold down the wiring harness under the intake manifold on my '86 944T. There are three different clips. There is one 18mm and clear, two 13mm and orange, and two 15mm and blue. They are not in PET, and I have talked to several different dealers in an attempt to locate them. They are call "omega clips" apparently in the trade, but Porsche doesn't seem to carrier them. I ordered similar clips that were listed in PET, but nothing of the correct size. It is same type as pn #181.971.847, which is 10mm and lime green, or 999.651.345.02 which black and 4mm. Any idea where I could locate the part? I want to keep my car stock and original, and don't want to use tie-wraps unless I have too.

I searched high and low for them not too long ago when I got the motor back in the car. No dice, most suppliers said they are NLA.

I went with the 5 cent tie wraps. Sucks not to have the stock stuff, but I was not going to waste more time on it.

Also, the stock cable ties are sneaking up towards $2 each. I would imagine if you found the ones you need, they will be that much or more.

Good luck!

I went on the factory tour a few years ago....and there they were .....sitting in large containers along the side of the assembly line.
Red,blue,green,clear,white,black.....I wanted to reach in and take a few handfuls.

I'd buy that for a dollar!

I am pretty sure that they are not out of production 100%, as I have seen similar tie downs on 996's.

All you have to do is buy Icesharks battery cable kit and these factory ties come with it.

BTW, the cable kit is First Class, just like the headlight upgrade.

I was told by my local dealer that these clips only come with a new wiring harness.

David, the "Omega" clips they are talking about are the hard plastic ones located under the intake manifold, not the firewall ones I gave you that are even harder to find.

I wouldn't, and didn't, bother tracking down Omega clips, use a regular nylon cable tie or a rubber coated steel clip. Either are better than the OEM Omega plastic.

And they don't exactly look like the Greek letter omega. But no one has ever complained about wrenches crowding into local Mensa meetings. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Anyway, did I mention how nice the Iceshark kits are.

Funny you should bring this up. I just ordered a few different clips from 944Online. They came up with a nice display showing the clips and their corresponding part numbers.

I'm pretty sure that I got this from the 928 forums, but here goes, along with some of my notes on these things. That picture is great, but if you can't quite make out the size order, here you go.

From largest to smallest, colors and PNs:

black 321.971.847.B
yellow 321.971.847.A
clear 171.971.847.A
blue 113.142.261.A
red 811.971.848.B
green 999.651.168.40
gray 477.971.851
black 181.971.847

Omega clips are also made by Auveco
Sometimes called routing clips

Cheers,

Glenn

the only correction is that the red clip number is not correct. 811.971.848.B is a metal clip. Have tried numerous sources to find the red one's number, but no luck so far.

These guys have a good number of them, and a lot of other hard to find things...I ordered ten each of three different examples of these clips. It was just $20.00 with shipping, which I didn't think was bad coming from Europe.
