944less
I am now officially 944-less. Yes, despite lots of opinions/advice from fellow rennlisters, the cost of shipping my 944 from Hawaii to CONUS, plus the added expense of driving from San Diego to Elmira NY weighed too heavily on my mind so I sold my baby yesterday to a woman who stated "I am going through my mid-life crisis - I need a sportscar and promptly sold her Jeep wrangler one day and purchased my 944 the very next morning. I must say that I feel lost and lonely without my porsche, but it does feel good to know that I have enough money to perhaps be on the look-out for another when I reach NY. Mid-life crisis woman offered me $5000 cash - so I jumped at the chance - porsche buyers here are as rare as hen's teeth I can tell you.

Well, if it's any consolation - it seems as if 85.5+ N/A 944's are plentiful out here on the east coast, even for the cash offer you received. Throw a little more into a purchase and you can have a good base 951 that doesn't need anything Major.
I'm on the hunt right now.. Got 2 in sight too.
Good luck though.

One last piece of advise - never look back! Nothing worse than sellers remorse!
Let us know when you get to NY and good luck!

Thanks guys for your words of comfort in this sad moment in my life. My very first porsche...gone to a good home where I know she will be pampered just as I would have done. Now that I have been bitten by the bug I am sure it was the first of many porsche to come. Perhaps Santa might leave one under the christmas tree for me if I am very good - although thinking about it, it would have to be a very big tree.....

Have you seen the tree at the ice rink in New York City at Christmas time - now that's a BIG tree!

Welcome (in advance) to the Northeast.

Bring the money to the NE and find another 944. The Chemung Valley region of NY (Elmira) has many great driving roads.
Remember to get a warm coat for the winter-Its just a tad different from Hawaii

944Maineiac - I am so glad I am leaving Hawaii. I grew up being used to 4 seasons, so I miss the cold of winter and being able to wear long woollen coats and the like. The sun does get boring after a while, day in - day out - it is definitely time for a change of scenery too. There are only so many times you can keep driving around in a cirle and not get dizzy
