I have the QAI on my desk, it blew out a while ago, but I will be getting the dimensions and how to's of making the shock fit as a bolt on for you guys. Its a simple do it yourself deal, drill the bearing out, use a simple extender on the shock...presto. THe valving is the same on any of the HAL units, I called them about this. There are no "special valving" techniques used on any HAL shock other than the factory design, this was told to me by a sales manager.

HAL does not label their shocks under any name. Its simple a factory builty HAL shock, if someon takes the sticker off to conceal the MFG, that does not make it a "label" This was also confirmed by a call to the MFG, I asked them about a company label.

Hey thanks Skip. I remembered ITS but I couldn't remember where the rules stated yes or no to coilovers for Solo.

And you just had to bring up the specter of financial responsibility - Significant Other. She always gives me grief when I buy car parts unless they are to maintain her Civic. Heck she even sweats me when I try and change my oil or something.

As usuall the spin doctor is at work. I would hope that a call to our supplier with whom we buy a proprietory product will not devulge the nature of our agreement to our competitor. If anyone wants to know exactly what the differences are, and why we had the specific changes made (which I doubt anyone cares) they can call me for all the details. There will likelty be a cute little relpy from my nemesis about this and that but I don't think anyone here really cares anyway. <img src="graemlins/sleep.gif" border="0" alt="[sleep]" />

Hey Rothmans,

I've posted this before, but basically the whole Mean Old Man thing started in a bicycle shop I helped manage in Atlanta. My initials are MPM, but when I write it quickly it looks like MOM, so one of my mechanics started calling me mom. Then, because I kind of have a scowly face, he started asking why I was always mad (we are good friends and he was joking around). So from there the initials M O M evolved to stand for Mean Old Man.

I am actually not all that mean, but I do have a short fuse and I do tend to tease and pick on people.

Damn, gotta eat some crow again... Master Jason is watching the young Jedi and reminds me that the PCA does allow the coil-over rears in stock and it is not a points item for Solo PCR either. You simply must "retain the original stock type"... which interpretted means: the t-bars must stay, but they are unrestricted as to the effectiveness or brand... they could be uprated to add spring rate... or turned down (on a lathe) to virtually eliminate their effect on the rear rate... allowing you to make all changes with the coil-over spring and not be concerned with indexing or funky rate calculations. Sorry for the momentary lapse or reason... do I get the wet noodle now... please
