Default coolant leak from rear of engine

There's a pretty big leak that I could only trace coming from the starter. I havnt been able to check it out yet, but what in that area could leak coolant?

And I'm at work and my phone won't pull down the search bar, sorry.

The heater control valve is located above the starter (rear of engine) and is prone to failing and leaking. I'd start there.

yeah, heater control valve for sure. could VERY unlikely be the headgasket or something on the back of the head but its just about impossible. the only place there is coolant near the back of the engine is the control valve or the heater core.

Hmm‚thanks I guess LOL. I was told there is a hose behind the head and under the intake. I was hoping that was the issue. Is this heater control valve a cheap/easy replacement or am I looking at spending another pay check?

Depends on how small or large your pay check is this week. Heater Control Valve runs $16.50 - $17.50 depends on year of your car. Hose costs extra if needed.

Cheers,
Larry

The HCV is cheap, but a new clutch isn't -- get that leak fixed before the coolant ruins the friction surface on your clutch.

Indeed there is a hose back there that can leak. It's a small elbow type hose, but when it fails it usually blows lots of white smoke from the coolant vapor.

No harm in checking the hose before doubting the HCV.
