My S4 according to it's quarter mile runs does 0-60mph in 6.0s....absolutely no way a 2.5L 8V NA will keep up with and pull a 5.9s 0-60

I'm assuming his is an early dash RoW model since hes in Aussie so stock for stock its a bit quicker than a US one.

5.9 is still a huge ask and if the time & money invested by ritzblitz's racing friend (seen that vid before btw- most awesome!) is any indication then johnnykrand is one of very few to be a member of an exclusive club.

johnnykrand, you should hook up with some of the other Aussie rennlisters. Some of them are very experienced and would be able to tell you more about your car.

We already know what's done to the car...nothing! Sounds like a teenager that thinks his car is hot ****.

There's no way on God's Earth that anything resembling a standard n/a can do that time legit.

But ive got about a year to go till full license but i can always deny it to the cops.

I know that mine makes a minor blow off sound from the air box when changing over 3700rpm in all gears. It can pull a small burn out/wheel spin while on the roll in 2nd -3rd gear sometimes 3rd-4th depends on the change, this is not due to **** tyres at all. i have around 85% tread, more.

I'll give the guy a ring on the weekend probably and find out. All i know is i've driven it timed it and 1st hand experienced it. I never said my 944 was stock. I said it was N/a thats it i am not claiming there is no work to it im not claiming there is work to it i honestly don't know. It has been sitting since it got crashed there was only body work damaged and every now and again between the front end being layed on the garage floor and it being assembled i like to take the girl out for a run to keep her fresh.
Where are you in Australia? We can have someone in most capital cities come check out your car. Not meaning to call you out...but you're being called out. The guys telling you anything but a stupidly modified 2.5L 8v n/a can't do what you're saying are experienced people with these cars. This isn't like many other car websites full of wannabees...although there's one in every crowd.

If the P.O. has done amazing mods then of course this would have been stated at time of sale and somewhat reflected in the buy price. What did you pay for your car? And yes I know we get raped down here for cost$ so we can calculate what this means in the US market. I bet you didn't pay more than $10k for your car. To have the kind of work done to make your car do sub 6 sec 0-62 mph will mean that you would have paid at the very least $15k+au and that's with the P.O. taking an absolute bath.

To dial this back a bit. I'm sure your car is nice and quick and your justifiably proud of it but you were always going to get called out with these claims.
When I have my GPS going, it shows virtually 110kmh+ on my speedo when the GPS says 100kmh. Just saying.....

Show some pics of your car, especially underhood. It should be pretty obvious what has and hasn't happened under there. btw 115mph trap speed is pretty fast. Stock n/a was doing mid 16's for the 1/4 so there's no way it's trapping anywhere near 115mph. Perhaps you're mixing up your mph and kmh? You've never experienced mph as you're a P plater. There's a big difference.

Hmm,
That seems to explaing it all. Next will here how its really 924S Auto Twin Turbo that at 3/4 throttle will out run a Z06 vette.

Austrailian AMAF?..
(if you don't know AMAF do search this user name. It will be hours of fun!)

Now back on topic...
944 cup vs 944 super cup lap times. The 944 cups are lighter and in some case carry the same tire wheel package as the turbo cars. So the turbo cars get only more hp with more weight. The cup cars also have a deeper field which tends to produce great competition at the fast end of the grid. Still in every case with equal drivers and well prepared cars the supercup cars should be faster even it by only a little bit. One thing to conisder however is 2 seconds is an eternitiy in racing. At my local track I can run 1:13's. Maybe even crank out a 1:12 if everything is perfect. However getting to 1:11 just is not going to happen without ALOT more hp. We did have a 944 spec guy crack out a 1:11.9, but that was in ideal conditions for 1 lap and had a couple not legal mods. It was milestone for him, but he will bethe first to say running that pace in race is just not going to to happen. It was a one lap wonder that he tried for years to achieve an probalby only did with out the balnace shaft belt and with the aid 15x8 fuchs which gave him that last 3 tenths. (both not legal in 944 spec).

Im saying i never investigate i didnt claim it was a v8 i didnt claim it was a turbo we arent even allowed so much as a cone filter, about the most a P plater can do to a car is to modify the air box to have a CAI even then it must be able to work under a vacuum which frankly doesnt happen, because it will take nothing in.

My dad used to own an 84 model 944 which had miles and km, he used to let me drive i up the street and back on a sunday drive it had mph, yes your right mine is km/h, my conversion from km/h to mp/h was 1.6km/h for 1mph. But depends in america is it nautical miles 1.825 Im doing it base on 1.6km/h to 1 mph.

I'm only stating what i have done. But thanks pg for at least being respective in the way you call me a lier, i was in disbelief at the time, the speedo is 2% out as a speed camera buffer. So there you go 0-98km/h in just under 6 seconds.

Post a video, otherwise nobody is going to believe you. It is absolutely, positively not possible with a N/A 944 (especially one that you legally have to have stock). Only way it would be remotely possible is if you chopped the car in half or if you mounted a seat the just the drivetrain.

Try running the 2nd gear in your N/a 944 out a little better then see 2nd gear will go to 100km/h easy and quick. N/a's have rapid acceleration in gears 1 and 2 and depends how fast you change 2-3.

Look Johnny.

Here is the deal. You come on here in serious thread comparing lap times of actual race cars, 944 NA cars and 944 Turbo cars, bragging about your 85 NA will do 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds.

I know that is total BS.. and I call you on it. In fact I question 200+ whp claims on 2.5L NA's. Now why do I do that?

I have rebuilt 3 or 4 2.5L NA motors. I have see dyno charts on 10-15 motors and raced with probably 50-60 different 944 NA cars. All running similar hp. The cars can be fast on a track and turn good lap times, but simply cannot match the power of Turbo car. 0-60 of under 6 seconds is in fact better than a stock 944 Turbo. This car was rated at 6.1 seconds. Even Stock 944S2 could not get to that an those were about 6.7 secods (athough I could be mistake).

So then you question how I know of what I write?

This is the classic teenage approach. Boast some fantastic claim that is just not backed up by reality and argue that who ever class you on it is lame. We have seen this before and one of most notrious was a fellow who when by AMAF. He hay mythical twin Turbo 924S automatic that he would tell us here that out dragged Z06 Vettes and the like. We all knew he was full of BS, but he kept coming back for more. Well one day he quit rennlist for a few months grew up and came back. This time with different user name and without all the wild stories. A few people made the connection, but since he was no longer acting like 16 year old punk we let him blend right in. He may even been still around.

Well you may be able to fool yourself or your friends. Maybe even peole on other internet forums, but not here. There is colletively too much knowledge here to get away with it. Not I don't consider you a liar. I can believe that you may have run side by side with your friends car. That car could have been rated to sub 6 second 0-60 times. However that does not mean he did it that fast.

So please come back and post to rennlist. This forum will help and impove your 944 ownership. However lay off the outlandish claims. We can see right through them.

Mmm Kaay!

Anything under eight seconds to 60mph is impressive in your own series one 944. 1982-1985 cars are lighter, but even road testers abusing Porsche Cars GB press fleet couldnt manage much below 7.5 seconds to sixty; and that was powershifitng (and NO ONE drives thier own car like that!).

Hey guys, I know its a little late but I just wanted to chime in. I took my old 1985.5 944 NA the local drag strip a year ago. I managed a 15.9@92mph.

1985.5 944 NA:
128,000 miles on the engine with rebuilt head
COMPLETELY stripped interior, track prepped car, no spare, carpet, back seat, radio etc.
K&N Air Filter
Cat Delete
Lindsey Chip
Full Koni Suspension
Limited Slip Gearbox
Rebuilt Stock Head Ported and Polished
Mickey Thompson 245 DR's in the rear, 16" Phone Dial wheels, 205's up front

I drove the car to its max, I ran between 15.9 and 16.5 all night.

I took my bolt on 951 to the strip a few days ago with my best time being a 13.01@114.94mph, 60ft time was between 2.6-3.2s. (no traction in first or second so I was nice on the gas until 3rd gear, yes I had to wait for the turbo to spool because I did not rev up and drop the clutch to launch it) I really dont like taking the cars to the drag strip but curiosity took the best of me. Im sure it could get in the 12's without a problem.

1988 951 Mods
61-1 Turbo
Mafterburner Piggyback
Lindsey MAF
Lindsey Dual Port Wastegate w/ MBC
3.0 BAR FPR
993 BPV
55# Injectors
Cat Delete
Limited Slip Differential
Koni's on all 4 corners
Goodyear 225s in the rear
There were no weight reductions, still has the rear wiper and all.

Moral of the story, theres no way a 2.5L 944 NA will get to 60mph in 5.9 seconds without nitrous or forced induction.

Here's some data for you guys... I'm driving both cars, my turbo is built to Turbo Cup specs (weight, suspension, power, etc.). The NA car is stock power, completely stripped interior, stock bushings, manual steering, and a lesser tire (Toyo RA1 vs my BFG R1). In the NA, I also had a passenger.

The power of the turbo is plainly abundant. Front straight speed is 18 MPH faster; on a 1.5 mile track, the turbo's lap time is nearly 7.5 seconds faster - that means in 9 laps, I'd pass that car again.

NA cars are fabulous, and a lot of fun... but they're not that fast. That's my professional opinion!
