bump, seems like the right thread.

any tricks or tips for installing new "front BS bushings"? are they just interference fit?

the ones in my housings look OK (babbit doesnt seem worn), but the rear bearing shells need to be replaced for sure.

curious if i even need to replace the fronts.

Per the Workshop Manual, there is a special tool to remove and replace the front bearing.

I took mine to an independent Porsche shop familiar with 944 engines. They stated they were OK and never replaced them. Also confirmed by another shop whose owner raced 944's. I am building a 944 race engine and did replace the rear half shell bearings.

So, I did not remove them, no babbitt missing, just scoffing marks.

I hope this helps.

Thanks.
Seems there aren't any 944 friendly shops here, at least that i can find.

I'll keep checking until the rest of my engine parts show up, but the ones i have look pretty good.
