Default Oil and temperature gauges

Hi all, previous post was about the oil gauge shooting straight to the very top when starting engine like it is connected to a live and not under pressure, I've had a look and it's got a new sender unit and the wires seem to be the right way round, one bigger than the other.
Do the wise one's thing it could be the gauge? Also the temperature gauge reads between half and 3/4 it isn't over heating and the fans kick in and out. As there both messing around could it be a earthing problem and where would you except it to be.

Really appreciate your help
Kind regards dave

check the small harness right off the sending unit and make sure that it is not grounding. You can do this easily by disconnecting the sending unit and then turn on the key. If the gauge still pegs, the wire is grounded. If not the new sending unit is bad. Temp gauge seems right, just make sure that your cooling system has no air in it
