I turned the last right hander onto the front straight for the last time and saw the checkered flying, so i floored it and headed straight for the tower. Suddenly the tire exploded into flying bits and started slapping the fender and floor. I saw the ps floorboard start denting in, popping a drain plug out of the floor but nothing was going to keep me from that damn checkered flag.
I was looking at the lap chart on MyLaps. You guys did a good rally to gain back all of those lost positions. I'm proud of you!

My Dragon day disaster:
Flight in: 2 hour delay to Norfolk
Leave for VIR: 11:30am~Arrive @ VIR: 3:30
~go to call Dan and find out where they are. Realize phone & laptop are with my luggage (with the wife to the house).
~figure I'll slack around, take some pics and bump in to someone, only to then realize I have no idea what anyone looks like.
~walk around a bit, snap some pics ask a couple teams where the dragon team is. They point to the back of the pits....cool.
~go to my truck to get my drink and the sway bars.
~security guy is giving some teens (maybe college kids) hanging out between my truck and their car an earful.
~I get my stuff out and he tells me/them we have to leave (thinks I am with them or they with me). Evidentally they were burning a doob or bowl or something.
~Deputy arrives.
~I leave.
~8 hour roundtrip for an hour of race watching....and didn't get to meet anyone

Maybe it was the removal of that hatch glass that gave you guys the extra speed(less weight) or did you keep Alan out of the food :P Did they require the removal or did you just decide to ditch it ? I remember Travis has no glass in is 44 at the Lemons race.

Tom- yeah we put Alan on a diet- but Chumpcar made everyone remove the glass besides the windshield.
Couldn't stand looking at the crunched fender today so i spent 15 minutes on it and got out the spray can and roller. Looks ok- now just to touch up the scales and clean all the pollen off the car. I dont mind the car getting beat up but not beat down. Even if the whole car looks like a piece of aluminum foil in a garbage can, it'll be shiney.

When I told my wife that during my 48 hours home that I was going to spend half of that at the track....I believe she may have put a curse on me.
But still, it was good to see the car run for a bit, and I am very happy for the results
If someone wants to send me an address, I'll mail the turbo sway bars and a set of turbo torsion bars if you guys want them. I'll also include a disc with all the hi-res pics I took (lo-res/reduced is what I have posted)
And as long as 944Fest iis not the weekend of June 11-13 I will be there. I owe Dan a couple kegs from last year (when I broke my back).

The fest is the 18th-20th. I would have just waited about 20 minutes and came back lol. Sure you could have found us.
