Im getting a new catalytic converter. I figure my 20+ year old cat has seen better days. Anybody have an idea of what they are worth to scrap? I figure someone on here must have cashed one in. I would think it would be worth a pretty penny since its HUGE. Thanks

If it's not rusty and stuff, maybe about $100 give or take. They have platinum and stuff in them.

FYI -- I have heard it is illegal to sell a used cat conv -- and yes, I know people do it all the time. You might not want to put it in the paper or on eBay, tho.

I know from experience that Ebay will stop your auction from running, I tried to sell a set of cats from a Nissan frontier that I install new exhaust on and they said it was an illegal offense.

My understanding is that EBay stopped allowing people to sell them due to the high theft rate (for salvage value).

It is not illegal to sell a cat...used or not.

Just take it to your local recycler or scrap yard.

We go atleast once a month.

yea there are some on ebay now, you have to sell it as scrap metal and say that its not for automotive use
