Falken Azenis RT-615
I am looking for a tire for DE and among others, I saw this which looked interesting....
Does anyone have experience with them?
I am going to ask my mechanic as well...he had a set of falkens on his track car (951) which he described as "driving on 4 bars of soap"...want to make sure it's not this model.
TIA

They get greasy as they get too hot which is easy to do towards the end of a 20 minute session, its more of an auto-x tire. Might want to try out the Kumho XS as they deal with heat a little better. Ive been very happy with them.

I've had both, Kumho XS and Azenis RT-615 on the track. I think I like the Kumho XS better, but it's close. I've seen better reviews for the Kumho XS, in Grassroots. Either way, great price.

I have them on my car currently, they are a good dual purpose tire but Ive read the Direzza Star Specs are better...if you have a dedicated set of track wheels Id get RA1s or NT01s.

I do have a dedicated set of track wheels....I am trying to keep the costs down though and these were definately attractive from that perspective.

Those Falkens are what was good several years ago. As others have said , the Dunlop Star Specs are super. I run those on my Audi which is much heavier that the 944. I have used those for autocross and track events in Texas heat and they warm up fast yet to not get greasy like the the Falkens would after several laps. I have nothing to but good to say about the tires and will be putting some on the 944 and likely putting my RA1's up for sale.

I have the RT-615s on my S2. Not bad on the track, but they do overheat quickly. Not that great in the rain. The Dunlop Direzza DZ-03Gs are apparently the best motorsport tyre (according to an Australian Mag review). Are they available in the US?

The Falkens are a bit long in the tooth for a HP tire... The Dunlops Star Spec as mentioned and the Hankook RS3 are great choices as they can take a lot of punishment and wear well compared to other tires of the same ilk... I feel they will do better in the wet if you encounter rain than some of the other tires like the Kumho XS.
I have used the Hankook RS2 with great results... Those tires took many a beating and never let me down...
