E85 Vs 100% Fuel, a difference?
Ive been putting 93 into my '83 NA ever since I have gotten it and now found out that you could still buy 100% gasoline, has anyone tried it and noticed a difference of any kind? I would think the motor would run better since it was built when there only was 100%.

im not sure what ur saying. Im pretty sure most gas is 90% petrol 10% ethanol with of course E85 availible in certain areas. I was unaware that you could get 100% but maybe its a southern thing..who knows? and to answer your question dont use E85. 93octane seems to be perfect for our motors.

I think I even got myself confused. I was reffering to the E85 as the 93 but I wasnt thinking. ere in Fl theres a BP station that sells pure gasoline so I was just wondering if anyone has used 100% in their car and if there was a difference. I have heard your mpg goes up with pure.

In Lake Placid by the Sweet Bay, about 1.5 hours south on 27 from Orlando if your going 75-80 average haha. Its nice only 20 minutes away from Sebring International Raceway. Next weekend is the 12 Hours!

You have different octane ratings there or what? We have 95 and 98 octane fuel for example in Europe..
NA doesnt run with E85. Injectors are too small for that. I have tried it. But e85 and 98 in a 50 /50 mix was good. Seemed like little more powered.

I would not run more than 10% alky in any car that doesn't have "FlexFuel" emblems on it. It will damage all the parts of the system pretty quickly, including steel fuel lines, fuel pump, and fuel rail seals.

u can't run E85 (85% ethanol, 15% gasoline) without modifications.
u can run E10 (10% ethanol, 90% gasoline) as is commonly provided by most gasoline stations across the country now.
yes 100% gasoline does have more BTU per volume than E10. it should be worth maybe 1-2mpg. and yer not going to find it at the same price as E10. don't think you're going to be saving money by buying 100% gasoline.

Well I dont want to run on 10% E if 100% gas is better because the engine was originally designed for that.

anything with an ethanol blend is going to have a higher octane. Thats inherent to the effect of the ethanol. For better or worse, ethanol burns alot faster and hotter than regular gas. For that reason, you might notice a bit more power, but your fuel economy is going to go down. I find that when I run an ethanol blend, my car actually runs a bit worse on start up - I think it clogs the injectors over time, but I am not sure.

....no ethanol burns COOLER than gasoline. it will reduce your EGT and allow more ignition advance. but since the DME's don't have a way to advance ignition, it's power potential is meaningless unless u have a standalone engine management system.

it burns cooler and slower.
this is true. by NA i mean the usual definition of "2.5L 8v"
