Default 924S transmission swap question

Hey guys,
I'm thinking of swaping the stock transmission in my 924S straight up for the '86 turbo box specs below. My 924S runs strong and is pretty light so I'm courious if I should just run with the turbo gearing and final and be done with it? I would love a little more RPM in 3rd at Mid Ohio and I think this box would do it. I just don't want to slow it down everywhere else. Anybody have thoughts on what this trans will feel like in the 924S?? Thanks!

From 924S open diff to 944 turbo LSD with cooler
1st 3.6 - to - 3.5
2nd 2.125 - to - 2.059
3rd 1.4584 - to - 1.40
4th 1.0714 - to - 1.034
5th .8286 - to - .829
Final 3.8889 - to - 3.375

The Turbo R/P is approx 15% taller and each of the gears 1-4 are approx 3-4% taller, so youre putting 18-19% less torque to the rear wheels at a given engine rpm.

Its really going to hurt acceleration, by a lot. Geo Metro comes to mind.

Most guys want to go shorter gearing for track use, not taller. Mid Ohio does not require very tall gearing, even at higher speed tracks like Road America, Brainerd and Daytona, the stock N/A, 24S gearbox is plenty tall for the stock motor. In fact most turbos can run S2 R/Ps at those tracks and still not run out of gearing.

i have a turbo box in my NA, it isnt what youd want for the track. while its hard to really detect the added slowness, i think its made up for by doing 43 in 1st, 72 in 2nd, 105 in 3rd...

The short gearing of these cars is their saving grace, don't do a turbo box! You'll hate it, way way to tall for the power.

v2, did you put that box in? or was it already in the car? I have to be a good way into 4th for 105 lol

Thanks for the input, that's what I was thinking might happen with that final ratio.

Sorry for thread hijacking, but i have also question regarding transmission.

Does automatic box differential fits in a manual box ? Its a 1983 944. Automatic box is also from 1983 car.

yes, i put the 951 box in my car after my NA box chewed up its r/p while cruising the highway...

i will put it out there, that i cant really tell a difference in acceleration for 1st and 2nd gears. in 3rd though...it falls off.
