I have 928 S4 rims on my 924S. And I think... that's about as wide as you can go. I have spacers on the front, and the rears barely clear. The tires are Front-205/55/16 and the rears are 225/50/16.

225's are all you'll get on larger rims although some here have massaged larger ones under the rear. I like the 16's and even have a set of 928 forged wheels, but they are 4 fronts. Right now I have 16" Boxster "split star" wheels in the 205/225 sizes. I had to modify the front wheel grease caps and center caps to eliminate the need for spacers. Spacers require a little work with longer studs and then the limit the rear fender clearance even further.

hmm interesting cause i have a set of 16" phone dials off an 88 turbo that i wanted to use for the track. They have 205's in the front...and 225/50's on the rear..but i was also considering buying some fuch's and putting RA-1's on there. I feel like theres A LOT more room left considering i have the tiny 195's on the rear right now i just wish my dads 275/40/17's with Hoosier r6's would fit lol...

somewhere i thought i read you could get a 225 up front and a 245 in back with the perfect offsets but can not back it up. i curently have 205s all round with no issues and hope to go 225 all round on my set of four front clubsports.

Start looking at the offsets. You will not find Fuchs. For lack of better terms: a 924S is an early offset chassis that uses late offset wheels and even then you have very little room in the rear. Thirdgenbird has one of the best set-ups available for 17" wheels in my opinion. 16" wheels give you a few more options, but the offset is key in any case.

OK, here is my 2C..

With proper suspension I am sure a set of 33" super swampers would fit, maybe even 36s if you need ... but the road noise and understeer would be horrible..

Since you seem knowledgeable... Ha. I'm running front-205/55/16 and the rears are 225/50/16. I have that and my 15 phone dials. What am I better off running for performance?

hm- now that i think of it i actually was running 225's all around on my 924s- not 245's- sorry. Also ran 225's on the rear w/ 16" d90's and it looked great. Tried to fit some 911 Fuchs on there- just alittle too much offset- w/ aggressive camber maybe.

Straight line, over all, summer, all season, snow studded?

I will try to take a shot at all combos...

LT1 will definitely give better performance, but if tracking the car MIGHT get you bumped a class or two.

Larger rims would help with sidewall crush during your burnouts, but might make it squirrely during the hole shot, with some MT slicks it should stick just fine once they are properly warmed up.....

personally I prefer the feel of my 18s (245/35 in front, 295/30 in rear), even if they make the local P-car dealers service advisers head explode every time he sees my car... But then I'm 100% sure they wouldn't fit on a 924s.. That having been said, there is a fine line where less tire is more.

And isn't "performance" a little abstract?

I wouldn't run anything bigger than 225 on an otherwise stock 924s (or 944N/A for that matter) due to increased rolling resistance, and if you are looking for better handling I would run the largest, lightest rims you can afford, less sidewall wander coupled to less unsprung mass is always a good thing!

I don't think you can fit fuchs unless you go with 6" wide wheels and 195-205 tires because Porsche never made late-offset fuchs

For what its worth, I've got 951 late-offset 16" phone dials on my 924S and they don't rub (205/225 width tires, stock ride height, no spacers)

Fuchs, 15x6ft 15x7r, 205/50 with LOTS of neg. rear camber. 225/50/16 max will fit on all four corners (with phones) and will be tight. They will also tend to rub with weight in back on stock suspension. I run (4) 15x7 phones with 225/45/15 R's for track - my favorite combo.

924s are early early offset chassis with late offset wheels(53.5mm). Fuchs are not ideal. Although I have considered having a set of 3-piece Fuchs custom made for the 924 - it would be the s@it. I think for track duty, the stock phonnies are ideal. Lots of track tires in the 205/15 sizes and can be rotated front/rear to extend tire life.
