April 2010 Excellence
Got the April issue of Excellence today the market value is in for the 924/944/968 and it looks like my car took another loss this year. There is also a nice article the 924 Carrera GTS vs the 944.

values are down due to the economy mostly. These cars are not needs, but wants so with people cutting back fewer will buy. Plus job loss or income redution for some means selling toys.

It could always be worse guys. I'm pretty sure that on a quiet night I can stand in my garage and if I listen very carefully, I can HEAR my 430 depreciating.

If I bought my 944 to make money, I am an idiot.
However, I have had my car for over 12 years. It's the longest I've owned anything.
Probably mile for mile, the cheapest car I have owned, and the most fun to drive.

i feel bad for those that buy the bmw M cars, they're great cars but they fall so quickly in price it's ridiculous.
your ferrari, look at it this way, it'll fall in value, it'll still cost more than a brand new 911 TT, and likely in 30yrs it'll go back up.
the 944, i'd say wait another 15yrs before the value's on them start going back up...maybe even to what they were originally, just not the 8v

I think the values of the e28 M5 and the e30 M3 bottomed out in 97/98 and have be steadily rising since then. The newer ones do depreciate quite quickly though.

The Porsche that is shooting up in value right now has to be the 914. The ones that are dropping value fast are the 996 and early boxsters.

the values are dropping for sure but I actually thought the values were inflated if anything. My car (83 944) is listed as 5400 for "good" condition and 7300 for "Excellent". Around me they are going for 2-4000 no matter the condition. I paid 3000 for mine 6 months ago.

Excellence numbers are always off anyway, and 944s have always been the cheap car some guy buys so he can say he has a Porsche, finds out he can't beat his neighbor's camaro in a line, and gives it to his teenage son to learn manual in until he snaps a belt.
That's when rennlist comes in..

LOL, I knew when I started looking at these cars last year to buy one that there was no 'value' in them. Maybe someday they will have some collector type value - but right now no one wants them unless they either want to track a car or just really have a love affair with the 944/951.
I don't get why they aren't more popular though. Great value, **** tons of aftermarket parts, for a few grand in go-fast upgrades the car will run like a scalded cat. Dollar for dollar, maybe cheaper than owning an early Boxster and IMHO (minus the ragtop), probably a helluva lot more fun to drive.
I'm happy with mine. It's a blast to drive and play with in the garage...and they way I look at it...I'm still ahead ~$30k from the Cayman I was going to buy until I went with the 951...
