I'm interested in a set. Have you posted this on the 944 turbo forum?

ideola,

These look like a fair idea but If I recall the CV bolts are 12.9's not 8.8's. Its the stretch in the bolt/developed by the torque that puts pressure on the joint , preventing slip between the CV joint and the flange. Anything less than factory risks new and different problems.

It looks like the bolts in the pictures are stamped 12.9?

The write-up suggests grade 8. What grade are the bolts and whats the recommended tightening torque? Factory is 12.9 and 42Nm hopefully these are the same or better.

@samluke
Yes, when I first posted, I was going off information that was sent to me in a brochure by Stage8, which stated grade 8. A little further down, I posted a mini-FAQ, and corrected it, as these are definitely 12.9s. These bolts are absolutely reusable, I verified it with Stage8, and they adamantly affirmed that the reusability of their bolts is one of their biggest selling points. I suspect that the torque specs would be the same as OEM specs, but I will verify with my contact. I'll also go back and update the original post, since the subsequent clarifications are probably a bit buried by now! Thanks for clarifying question.

@Van
Thanks for the X-post!

@Duke
I have not X-posted myself because I'm only permitted one group buy thread per month per my sponsorship program. But that doesn't mean somebody else can't X-post in the 951 forum and point them here. Hint hint!

We only need 5 more confirmations to hit the 40-set discount level!!! Here's the updated participant list. If you see an asterisk after your name, I still need your email address (for paypal invoicing) and/or your shipping information (for firm shipping quotation).

Participant list moved to page 5.

Already done..any bet on the total count. I am guess about 50 sets. One question. Can extra bolt be ordered? If one is damaged, it would be hard to find an exact replacement.

@Brian
Thanks for the X-post

Yes, extra bolts can be gotten, no problem. These guys churned out a completely custom hand-made prototype in less than 2 days. Once this order goes in, I'll be able to provide replacements in half sets at least, maybe even in groups of six. I've already sent an inquiry about extra retainers and spring clips, because I'm sure some guys are going to want to have extras on hand. I'll find out tomorrow for sure and will post back with details.

I've had a couple of other inquiries about the 911 stuff, so I'm already laying the ground work for them. I need to spend some time in PET identifying how many permutations there are...I know there are at least two, M8 for the NA application and M10 for the Turbo. It would be extremely helpful to have a spare stub axle (inner or outer), CV, and boot kit (they can be old useless and greasy!) so that I can verify fitment. I can't imagine them being too different from the 944, but I don't like to take chances when commissioning a new product. If you know anyone that can send me a partial CV setup like I described, please let me know.

This sounds great. I have had my CV bolts back out, and it's no fun.
1 Set for me. Please.
