Red face I need a new muffler

I need to replace my 1990 944 S2 muffler. Can someone tell me what is the best sounding one to get. I would like for the sound to remain the same or deeper. Has anyone purchased an aftermarket muffler? If so what is the best? I checked out Speedforce and Huntley Racing. I did not see anything at Huntley racing for the 944 S2. SpeeForce looks good but i do not know what i need. HELP.

I have the SFR 3" cat back stainless steel system with a bullit muffler (thats what it came with) on my 951...I am very happy with it, but I am not sure everybody would be because it is probably 50% louder than stock idling and cruising and 2 or 3x louder when I get on it. Its not going to wake up the neigbors pulling out of your neighborhood at 3:00 in the morning unless you get on it, but people are definitely going to know that your car is there. It looks awesome (it has a 4" round polished tip and polished muffler...doesn't look ricey or anything, and the tip is not much bigger than stock) and of the couple of professional mechanics who have seen the underside of my car, they all said that fit and finish was top notch, and the welds, seams, and fittament were as good or better than the greddy, HKS, and other quality exhaust builders (obviously not for our cars, but...). HTH,

I had Midas install a Ravin brand performance muffler and am very happy with the quality and sound, deep and not raspy.I had the pre-muffler removed but kept the cat.

Evan I am going on memory here but I think the job was about $350.00.This included them removeing the old system in 1 piece from behind the cat, then bending new pipe from cat to new muffler and then they welded on a nice chrome tip. This particular Midas at that time had a mechanic that was a muffler artist, the bends, welds etc. were near perfect.I turned around and sold the old system for $200.00 so I was a happy camper.Ravin sells 3 different sound level mufflers,I went with the middle sound level and am very happy.Hope this helps.

ribs, I'm really wanting the same SFR cat back exhaust for my 944S. I've heard many good things about it. Does it need to be professionally installed? Also, was getting it shipped any hassle? thanks!
