That's one of the downsides to the internet...it's too easy to rip off a scorcher. If you had to write a letter and mail it, you might have reconsidered or forgotten about it.

On the other hand, you probably prevented this from happening to someone else!

I think that if I had waited for Lindsey to deal with me privately, that would have been in the best interest of everybody. (That sentance stinks, oh well)

But, yes by this happening Lindsey and everybody else has learned that the gauge will clear in some cars, but not in others. I was under the impression that motor mounts in poor condition means it will clear because the engine is lower...but thats not the case, worn engine mounts = more engine twist = gauge hits the hood.

No...just the turn signals, horn, wiper, etc...

Then again, I've done it too

Adrial, Glad it's working out OK!

It's well known that a gauge in the end of the fuel rail will ding the hood over a period of time. The engine simply moves too much.

This has been discussed over and over throughout the years and you can find several threads about this in the archives.

The solution is simple:

Use (2) NPT 1/8" 90 degree adapters. This allows you to offset the gauge much lower, thus not denting the hood.

That's what I used. Works great.

PS> and yes I too figured this out the hard way.

TonyG,

The Lindsey guage is smaller than most fuel pressure guages and was marketed as being small enough to not damage the hood.

The best permanent solution to this problem is to contact SFR for one of our custom fuel rails. We braze the correct NPT fitting onto the rear of the rail and it allows the gauge to be aimed upwards. We also offer cool liquid filled gauges which are much better then the VDO cheapies that everyone else sells.Take care.

Adrial, I'm glad everything is going well for you. I guess they really care about their customers.

Tim, That's a nice gauge!
