It would be nice if they told their customers that their products would cause damage to the users vehicle..
Yes thats right I bought the VDO gauge with the fuel end cap already drilled and have left it in over the past few days while tuning...heyy guess what it DENTED my hood...
Just called and left a message with them. We shall see how they deal with this.

Sucks but...who slammed the hood and dented it? I don't think that was Lindsey...
Let me also add that it's been common knowledge for some time that often these gauges don't fit correctly at the end of the fuel rail.

I have noticed the problems related with the fuel gauges on the rail like you are talking about. I dont see why you wouldnt go with an electronic fule pressure gauge with just the sender there. If you wanted an in-dash gauge you could easly run the wires or even mount it on a inside fender if you want to see the gauge while you are under the hood. I think autometer makes a setup like this. Why have the manual gauge if it going to be a problem clearing the hood?

Does Lindsey claim that the fuel pressure gauge is intended for use with the hood closed? I've seen countless posts at this website about this problem. I will be installing a FP gauge soon, but I intend to use it only for diagnostics (i.e. with the car in the garage and the hood OPEN).

The hood dented after several days of driving, it did not dent immediately upon installation nor immediately after closing the hood.
let ME add that Lindsey claimed the gauge would fit with the hood closed.

"This small, good looking, easy to read gauge clears the hood where larger gauges will not. In addition to being funcional, it will add to the overall under the hood package."

The reason for using a rail gauge such as the one Lindsey sells is that it is cheaper . Fuel pressure gauges with electronic senders run $100 and up. I think its ~$160 for an autometer from htttp://www.egauges.com who is usually reasonably priced.

Doesn't help you much now, but 9xauto sells a billet adapter that lowers the gauge.
Lindsey must have tested it on a car with worn mounts or possibly on a racecar with solid mounts.
Hope Lindsey Racing makes it right. Unfortunately, by posting here you have already lost some of your leverage with them. Still, they can turn this around and show some excellent customer service that may endear them to Rennlist. I imagine it would be a bitter pill to swallow on their end after selling a $50 part. Be sure to keep us posted!

after hearing about all the dented hoods with the standard gauges... I would pay the extra.. then you could hook up 2 readouts if you wanted them.

I think Lindsey should pay for the damages. If they were real caring about these cars and their customers, then that's the only right thing to do. Sounds like their products are not what they say they are.

Lindsey's mistake was not thinking about motor mounts, chassis flex and hood allignment. They probably should have after all this time and the common knowledge of this issue and general hood clearance on all sorts of aftermarket items from battery posts to strut bars. Anyone that has worked on one of these cars knows that you never even consider setting a tool down in the engine bay for even a second should you forget it and someone slams down the hood.
Sorry to hear this adrial, but I bet this is going to be your problem. And I doubt a paintless repair guy will be able to smooth out if there is a sharp angular dent that likely stretched the metal.
