well, mideastmafia, the motor mounts are designed to flex as the motor revs. The gauge is in essence attached to the motor and when it revs, the motor mounts flex, thus letting the gauge come up and hit the hood.

Adrial, Sorry about your hood and I appreciate your frustration but don't slam them until they have told you to take a flying leap...Give them a chance to make it right or at least offer an explanation...They may make it right with you.

By the way, thanks for the info...I'll be avoiding that gauge...Good Luck!

I'm in no way trying to be the *** here (I've had my share of "there won't be any problem" guys), but I checked that page, and I don't know if this was there earlier or not, but

"Note: Cars with worn motor mounts, misaligned hoods, under hood insulation or cars that have been in an accident may have clearance problems. Check the clearance between the hood and the gauge top. If you feel there is not sufficient room, then remove the gauge after setting the pressure and re-install the factory sealing ball and cap. Cars with good motor mounts, and things are aligned properly should have about 1/2" between the hood and gauge. This is adequate room for the engine as it torques. Cars running solid engine mounts should not have any problems. If still concerned, we can supply a pair of street 45 degree elbow fittings allowing you to adjust the position of your gauge down. We will supply these free of charge to customers that did not get them in your kit. New kits from 08-26-02 include these fittings."

Got that from the bottom of their page. Hope you guys can get something settled...I've got two small dents in my hood from PO leaving tools under there while trying to shut it, and it SUCKS! Everybody sees them.

Hey,
I think this is the design for our cars.
I am in the works of putting together a similar guage setup for my car and a few friends ,like the one in this picture.Surely better than getting your hood dented.

I dont know about wraping the hose around the distributor... I would try to go the other way with it. Just to be safe.

By the looks of that, especially considering the date, I am guessing that Lindsey is going to make it right for Adrial. I imagine that Adrial might also change the topic to something like "Lindsey Racing has excellent customer service."

Adrial?

Of course, I could be COMPLETELY wrong! <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />

Depending on how bad the dent is, you may have to heat shrink the metal and bang into place. If u attempt to bang the dent out it will only popup further down the hood. GOod luck!

A hood can be replaced. A cracked fuel rail/gas leak/massive engine fire is a bit more expensive.

Be careful, don't blow up the house while i'm away.

Call Lindsey and bitch at them, be very firm and pissed off. I can deal with it when i get back if u like. For now if you think the guage is touching the hood get rid of it. Better safe. Maybe you can find some cheap and easy plumbing to rotate teh guage or move it elsewhere.

Also don't do any more fuel rail work in teh garage, stuff could blow up.

See you at the airport at 7am Wednesday

Adrial's mom? pops? nutty. I remember I picked my dad up at the airport about 8 months ago in my 951. It was nighttime and raining, and all he did the whole time was bitch about how bad the headlights were in my car and how he couldn't see anything sitting shotgun. Because of that I put in some street illegal light cannons...I doubt he will ever bitch about anything but "turn off the highbeams! The reflections from the roadsigns are blinding me!".

They definetely just added that, I have the window open from when I started the thread and it doesn't show that. However, it does now.

Like I said in my original post...we shall see how they deal with it.
