Default oil pickup tube seal

While putting my engine together I realized I need the seal ring for the oil pickup tube. $10 from the dealer or $6.25 from pelican plus $5 shipping.

I know I'm a cheap sob but $10 seems like a lot for a piece of rubber.

Anyone know where I can find it for less?

Not something you want to buy cheap. Get the dealer oem seal and be done with it.

it's a seal that won't break down in sustained bath of 220degree oil.

Go dealer AND make sure you get the correct seal; i.e. there are a couple different iterations of that seal. Someone can probably correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember a black seal, a orange/red seal and maybe even a clear seal in my package when I did this job.

EDIT: Found a picture from when I asked about this seal. Note that mine was for a 951 but this picture shows you all 3 variations of the same seal. I was told that they were not interchangeble.

the 83 and possibly 84 pickup was a smaller diameter than the later ones. don't know exact sizes...but def different even visually.

My gasket kit contains a black, orange, and clear seal. The black one was the correct diameter, but it was tall. It is installed right now, but the flat area on the pick up tube is about 2 mm away from the block and the seal is squishing out.

That's not right... is it? I assumed I used the wrong seal.

That's not good. That was the only seal that had the correct I.D.?

I am also a cheap SOB but when it comes to the one single seal that allows for proper oil pressure, I would gladly spend $10 for that peace of mind.

I ran into this and as memory serves me that seal was for a tube in the oil cooler. It fit the tube but was too tall and squishing out.
