Aftermarket Body Latches for Hatch
Happy New Year!
My lock has had it. I guess I could always replace the lock and latching mechanism with another. However and quite frankly, I am tired of those wonky hatch bolts and latches and am ready for a more racing and user friendly version.
I have a friend running these: http://www.hrpworld.com/index.cfm?tp...action=product
From a list of these: http://www.hrpworld.com/index.cfm?tp...ction=category
Anyone running any of these or others? Any recommendations? TIA Michael

I would imagine the lower/body/female end would not be much an issue, but what are you thinking on the hatch itself? There is not much metal to pin something to at the center of the hatch.

well the male end wouldnt need to be much. id probably use a setup that has the latch in the female side, and the male end is basically just a metal u loop that gets caught. you could probably make something to use the existing bolt holes where the pins attach.
and i didnt mean at the middle i meant one per side in the existing locations, just a better solution for keeping the hatch closed than loose pins and lobster claws. the trunk on my mazda never jumps or rattles when i hit a big bump.
and i would bet that the stock key-lever-pushrod setup could still be used.

Michael, I forgot to mention, Joe has since safety wired his hatch down, from the inside. I think he was worried about the car going backwards at high speed and the air catching the underside of the spoiler and overpowering the latches.
He can chime in next weekend in person.

Cool. Thanks Chris. Spencer, I am ready for your hatch solution.
In the meantime, I found this thread in the race forum: https://rennlist.com/forums/racing-a...m-options.html
