think id be ok just be removing the crimp from the hard line and putting new hose over the barb with a clamp?

what type of clamp? the squeezyband type??

i think(?)

they're sold as higher pressure clamps. they have an actual nut and bolt, instead of a serrated band like a regular hose clamp. i can take a picture if you want, but there are already similar styles used on the car. should be one under the fuel pressure regulator or dampener on our early cars.

I used ordinary stainless hose clamps (slotted type with worm drive screw). When you remove the crimp, it's not just a straight section of tube under there. It has barbs or a bulged end (can't remember for sure) so the clamp isn't doing the sealing all by itself.
