Or, how are you accomplishing this? Can I see some pictures of the components/sizes? Do you remove the bump at the end of the metal line in the fender? etc., etc...

hey tazman, those bright blue wires are vacuum lines right?i will have the engine out soon and figure its a good idea to change the lines and was wondering whether to go to the reg lines like that or keep the straw type lines. Do you suggest going to the rubber ones?

Also....I might be really stupid but i dont understand why you cant go to home depot and buy ss braided by the foot and put it on?whats with the AN fittings?what do they provide for the extra like 90 bucks?

Penny wise and pound foolish.

I can't believe that someone has not come up with a solution to this one yet. Weld a male connector onto the fuel rail, provide a fuel line with male ends from the filter to the fuel rail and make some money. Please.

How does the SS fuel line actually connect to the AN/Metric compression fitting? Does the connector slide over the end of the hose and you simply torque it down creating a compression fit, while connecting the threaded nut to the dampener? That compression fit with out crimps is enough to prevent leaks?

Many others on the board use them. Just make sure you use something with a thick wall or it can collapse under vacuum. I bought my vacuum line from http://www.hosetechniques.com http://www.lindseyracing.com seems to have a nice kit available with brass T's which I could not find locally.

With the SS lines as long as what Home Depot sells is rated to run fuel through it that is fine. The AN fittings are made to hold the higher pressure better than a hose clamp but with that being said a lot of us use hose clamps on the fuel lines.

There is a lot of information about both of these items here. If you do a search you will find everything you need to make an informed decision on what will work for you.

Thanks Steve.

Guess we should have done that dinner before you left town. You sure snuck out quietly.

SM, I also wonder about the compression fit at the dampner/pressure regulator/hard lines. I will call Technodyne.

I have replied to several of these threads in the past with the exact hose sizes and fittings, as well as required tool and where to purchase all of this stuff. I'll do a search and see if I can find any of the original threads. If anyone is interested in a parts list let me know. You won't get off cheaply if you do this right though and may wind up paying a few hundred for everything including the 37 degree flair tool from Aircraft Spruce.

Here are the fittings to convert the hard lines at the fender well to AN fittings (army/navy for those who dont know what AN stands for)

For the 10mm supply line:
Earls #165006 (3/8 tube to male 6AN)
You will need to drill the ferrel to 10mm
NO flaring reguired!

For the 8mm return line:
Earls #581805 (nut)
Earls #5810905 (tube sleeve)
Earls #991907 (5 to 6 union)
You will need to flare the hard return line. AN fittings are 37 degree flare BUT you can use a 45 degree Standard flaring tool an just tighten the SH&! out of the fitting and it will pull into place.

You will need 6AN hose (which is 6/16 or 3/8)
You will need hose ends on each end of hose
Earls #300106 for straight
Earls #309106 for 90 degree
(They make any degree 45, 120, 160, 180 etc.. as well)

As for the fittings needed for the engine side?

Best place to buy Earls AN fittings:
W.M. Enginering 800-886-3275
