924S Warning light question
I recently acquired a 1987 924S that I'm in the process of restoring. The brake warning light under the clock is lit. I was under the impression that the 924S doesn't use pad sensors. Is this correct? If so what else trips this light?
Thanks,

they are the "brake wear sensors" but they frequently break or whatnot. my brake wear light has been on for about 3 years now, i check the pads every month or so and i still have like 3/8" of meat left on my pad.

hey we're both restoring 87 924s'! I believe that light is only for the pad but im not positive. Just take a flashlight and check your pads..they're tough to see through the phone dials but u can see them with a good light.

My '87 does not have pad sensors.
The emergency brake handle switch may be the problem. Check to see if the wires are connected.

The e-brake light in the cluster on the left side. It looks like ((P)). The light I'm talking about is under the clock in the center console. I know my 83 944 didn't have pad sensors before I stripped it and converted it to a race car. It still had the ((!)) Brake light in the center console, so the light must indicate something besides just pad sensors. Could it be low brake fluid? The brake fluid reservoir has a lever switch in the cap. It looks like it closes the contact when the level is too low. This means if I unplug it, it should never come on. I tried this and the light is still on.
Can anyone confirm if the 924S had pad sensors? I know that all of the 944's did starting in 84, but I'm sure about the 924S. It's a little hard to find info specific to these cars.
Thanks,

I found the manual to my 83 944 and looked it up. From what I gather, it only indicates if the fluid is low. It doesn't go off until the motor is running, though. Because of that, I'm guessing it has a switch for vacuum, too.
I can't start the motor, right now. That's why the light stays on.
