86 951 to early n/a brakes
Question: are 1986 951 spindles and trailing arms the same as early 944 n/a brake mounts? Need to "downgrade" a 951 racer to 944 n/a brakes/rotors...

The calipers won't bolt up to the front spindles; you'll need n/a spindles+hubs to fit the calipers.. as well as n/a rotors. The turbo shocks will not align with the n/a spindles, either. I think the tie rods would work. The rear is easier - the n/a calipers will bolt up, but you will also need the n/a rotors.
...So what's your reasoning?
What will you do with the turbo parts? sell them? If so, what would be your asking price?

Is this a variation on asking whether you can N/A your Turbo?
I'm curious as to what else you'll have to do to the car to make it legal for whatever you're doing with it.
I have a full set of late n/a brakes and spindles, if you wind up needing them (though I don't think they'll help for your '86).

Guys, I race my 1986 951 chassis as a n/a in SVRA CP, legal for SP2 and ITS. I use the 951 brakes, suspension, rad., cooler housing, and nose. I use a 1988 n/a 10.2:1 motor, 88 short 5th LSD. I am able to run 23mm 15x7 phone dials with 1986 turbo brakes/rotors, zero clearance issues. I am able to utilize the update/backdate rule in SVRA and can run with other sanc, bodies. My question about going to n/a brakes was asked to see if converting this car to SCCA EP would be successful. I am also a Spec Miata guy and my Miata buddies say that the top EP Miatas make 240ish h.p. and weigh 2075. The 944 does not have a chance...

Matt, I'm interested to hear that early 15" phone dials will clear early turbo brakes. I have always assumed this wouldn't be the case for my late ones, but I guess I should try it and see!
Anyway, as has already been answered above, you need early NA spindles to make it work, but they're really easy to find.

Blown Miatas, even with the 1.6 B6E motor can make 240bhp, or whp no problem. Just gotta replace the rods really. Pistons if you need security. I nearly jumped myself into an earlier Miata, with a JR supercharger kit. Low boost pulley, Eaton M45, no intercooler, still made about 160 wheel. Put an intercooler on and a smaller pulley? Probably 200 whp. Upgrade to a "Big Blower" MP62 and you're looking at about 230+ whp. That's better than a 951, and at roughly 2200-2400lbs (given weight reductions), the car will be an absolute rocket.
Most of the BP motor cars (the 1.8 later gen motor) will make at least 200whp with any boost setup. Those motors, with rods and pistons, can lay down 300whp on boost with a Megasquirt or piggy controller.
A 2.0 stroker Miata with ITB's and a slew of other things can get to mid-200's NA. But it's probably not gonna be a fun car to drive, unless you're at the limits on a track.

I have a set of front spindles, hubs and brake calipers from an '84 NA. I have the rear calipers, too.
I'll let them go cheap - they are currently clutter in my garage.

yeah, A SCCA EP 1.8L miata makes 240h.p., capable of a 2:28 lap time @ Road America. Just to entertain, Karl Poetl from Racer's Edge 944S2 SP3 PCA racer does a 2:35. Miata is 12.1 comp, 500 lift cam, Electrolux ignition and stay together, just have to mortgage the house, sell a kid, deliver papers...
