Default Reinstalling 3L in 924s

This question is for those other Frankensteins....Lemming?
I have the 3L together and ready to go back in to the 924s chassis. I pulled it out the top, but in pieces. But now I am trying to put the long block back in (sans intake). Can you get the 3L long block back in from the top? Or do I have to go in from underneath? I assume you would pull the hood off.

if the drive shaft is still in place i wouldn't... it will be REALLY hard to get it back onto that... much easier from the bottom.

if the drive shaft and trans are out of the car it shouldn't be too hard

I think either way is doable with about the same level of difficulty. It's just a matter of preference. But what do I know, I've never put a 3.0L into a 924S, just into a 968 which is a little different.

ive pulled a 968 motor OUT of a 944 chassis, and its doable from the top but you have to be clever with it. might want to remove the PS pulley lol

And removing the tranny -- that gave us enough wiggle room to get the engine off the torque tube. We probably should have also removed the radiator for added clearance.

Well...I got it done! I had only 16" from the top of the head to the top of the crane and I had one of those load balancer bars too. The whole way the crane was right against the hood, but was just enough clearance I didn't have to remove the hood.
Couldn't of done it without the balance bar though. The motor HAD to tilt to get the bell housing low enough for the front of the engine to clear the hood latch bracket. The radiator was already removed, but you were right V2... The PS pully was just that much too much. It had to come off too. But I did get a long block 3L in a 924s from the top w/o pulling the hood or tranny. Pix to follow. I swear I had just milimeters to spare if any!
