I would probably remove that shock and see how it feels by hand. If it went dead, you'll know.

Other than that I would check all the rear suspension bolts for proper torque and give it a thorough looking over.

the shock does not determine your ride height. u could remove the shock altogether and it should be at the same ride height.

jack up the car and put it on jackstands. take off the wheel. undo the sway bar endlink. grab a hold of the suspension and move it around. something should be plainly obviously very loose....i would imagine.

do it at the endlink. i'm trying to basically unload the suspension in all directions so you can jiggle it around and see what's loose. even if u undo both droplinks, the other side of the sway bar will still hold the pass side in place.

arent the endlink and droplink the same thing? small dumbell looking things. does it matter which end i unbolt (end attatched to the sway, or end attatched to the spring plate(?))

oh my bad. i dunno why but when u said droplink, i was thinking the middle mounting points and imagining the front sway bar droplinks.

yea same thing. undo whichever is easier. the sway bar side is prob easier than the spring plate side.

A normal shock doesn't affect ride height. Mine thought was that it failed and is now binding the suspension. Compressing it by hand should tell if it's ok. If you don't know what to feel for, you can remove the other one and compare.

ah true, yea if it was binding. i was thinking of seal or valve failure where it'd be just flopping around.

i will be the first to say i dont know much about working on vehicles, but im not that dumb. besides, flat tire would not decrease the space between the wheel well and the top of the tire.

binding is what i meant by something getting stuck, and this was my first guess, but what would cause that to happen?

So that would mean that the ride height did NOT return to normal? I thought you said that it did.

If that's the case then I'd go back to my eccentric bolt theory -- at least as something easy to rule out.

I think one or the rear shocks may have hung up a bit. Then released itself.
