Exclamation Oil Pressure is going nuts!! Help!

Last week I was seeing normal pressure (4.5 BAR) at cruse speed. 5 BAR @ start up and ~2.5 at idle. Then my oil pressure started dropping to ~3 BAR at cruse. It's still good @ 5 BAR on cold start up and idle is fine too. The REALLY strange thing is, the pressure drops when I push on the accell. at speed. I don't understand. Could it be the pressure sensor? Do I have a leak? There is no coolant in the oil of oil in the coolant. What is going on?

Oil pressure sending unit. My did the same thing.
If you have oil in the car you should be ok for now. Just change it or have it checked.

Senders arent very expensive, get a new one. I have the same problem as you, but One day it just pegged whenever I turned the car on. I knew it was the sender because the it would read 5 + BAR when the engine was off but key in second position. It is a pretty simple fix.

Sorry, I ment that I HAD the same problem. Now that I have the new sender all is well.

Christian

BTW, just wait till you plan on changing the oil anyway, no sense it doing it twice in the specified period.

The wires for the oil pressure sender run near the exhaust manifold and over time melt and rip and get covered in oil, they are usually culprits of jumpy needles as they can cause intermittent contact.

Yeah my needle pegs 5+ as soon as I turn the key. I have a new sender sitting here waiting to go in next weekend when I do the oil cooler seals along with everything else.
