When the Brake Fluid is changed it is also Bleed. This means that the hydralic fluid that is used to run the brakes was changed. You change Brake Fluid by Putting new fluid in the resiver and then using air pressure to pump the old fluid out of the brakes so that the new fluid runs through all of the brake lines. Brake Fluid should be changed every 2 years on a car. (I am thinking about installing braded brake lines the next time I do mine).

The 86 Turbo paper trail sounds good. The last comment about 'could not bleed clutch slave' probably means the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder was plugged. The salve cylinder reacts to fluid pressure from the clutch master cylinder (connected to the clutch pedal) and releases the clutch to allow shifting. Even if it needs replacing it isn't very expensive; not a deal breaker on a nice car. I second the idea of spending a little money on a ppi for the $$$ you're planning to spend.

To replace the clutch master/slave is probably around 350-500...parts/labor. Mine was around $170.00 from pelican I think..

If you buy the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder from one of this forum's supporting vendors they will run about $160 - $170 (for both). I'm not sure how may hours a shop charges to install them but would imagine the $350 - $500 number is in the range. Keep in mind the shop will mark up the parts prices too.

Your clutch cylinders will give you fair warning before going out...at least mine did @ 77k. It would drop down while building pressure back then was fine for a while. I drove on it for about a month and it never completely failed before it was replaced. If it's not doing this...I wouldnt replace it until it was showing symptoms. Check the drivers side footwell for wetness...it's where they leak when failing.

Might be a good bargaining chip though...

yes...I was going to wait until it arrives but I purchased an 86 944 Turbo. Charcoal Grey (don't know the exact color name) with tan leather. The interior is perfect, no dash cracks. The exterior has some door dings and I would rate it 92%.

38K miles
5 spd.
LSD
Sunroof
TB replace at 27K and 37K along with many other belts.
WP was replaced at 27K.
16" Fuchs
Owned by a car collector.

Thing I want to do ASAP.
1. Still has the cassette player so have to put in a CD player...any suggestions and easiest way?
2. I have read the 16" Fuchs are wanted...I actually don't like them that much. I will prob. stay with 16's...just have to see some pics.

I should have the car mid-month...waiting for it to be shipped. Pickup is supposed to be this Friday, but you know these transport companies...they are one big headache.
