Which 944 would you choose - please help

I'd go with either the 85.5 or the 87.
Just last month I bought an '87 with 38K miles. It had a clutch replaced already (as mentioned the rubber centered clutch can fail as much from use as with age). It also had belts/wp done recently. I paid a market high price (close to the numbers you mention), but as you mention, it is a beautiful car. Most cars were equipped with a Sunroof. I am not a sunroof fan, but searching for the few hundred that DON'T have one can be time consuming.
its not clapped out.. its not stone chip ridden.. everything works.. I don't spend the weekends chasing niggling issues. Cars of this quality ARE rare.
Its NOT a racecar (although I do AX and DE Events). I too use it on weekends, and suprisingly have already logged 1,000 miles on it!
Turbos suck money as much as they push boost thru the system. Yes they can be fast. But to a non mechanical person, I didn't want the complexity of the Turbo and possible maintenance issues. I appreciate the relative simplicity of the 8V N/A.. even if my 2.5L Jetta feels faster

Pricing Updates:
87 944 Turbo with 40K miles. Timing Belt Done. Could use Motor Mounts (when its cold, the idle is slightly shaky). Interior is perfect, no crack or tear anywhere. Exterior has 3 small dings and rock chips. Dark Grey with Tan Leather. Tires are good. $9800
87 NA with 20K miles. Timing Belt Done. Pristine Show Room condition. Red/Black. No tears/rips. $10,200 but comes with extra set of 18" rims with Falkens which owner claim are brand new and he paid $3K for them.
Are both of these over-priced? I have to decide in the next two days either way. I am leaning for the TURBO. I hope I do not have to sink in a lot of money in repairs - you guys scare me.

paying $3000 for 18" rims and tires = wannabe baller.
tires: $600-700 for REALLLY GOOD sports tires
that leaves you $2300 for rims. u can get really nice sports rims for like $1000 a set.

Do the recently mentioned cars have receipts to prove the mileage and mechanical work? If these are the babied cars they must be with such low mileage I would still expect receipts for regular maintenance. Both of these cars should have had the timing belt replaced at least 3 or 4 times due to age. Again, if the records don't show anything major having been done then you will get stuck with some big repair bills sooner than later.

I'm leaning towards the turbo too . . .
Red 944's are flashy and ubiquitous. Grey turbos are understated but have it where it counts.
If you had an e46 M3, you will not be satisfied with an N/A.

OK, I have more details on the 86 Turbo. The maint. book is stamped up to 26K miles showing Oil Change, Vehicle Maint. and Emission Control. Current Mileage is 37K.
Just last month, the following was done at 37K:
Cam and Bal Belts
Cam Tens Wheel
Power Steering Belt
Change Brake Fluid and Bleed Brakes (have no idea what that means)
Replace Coolant Hose with Pump to Rad. (assume this is water pump)
Can someone tell me what this means as it was written on the invoice?
NOTE: Could not bleed clutch slave + bleed valve is not plugged?
