Post Tirerack Wheel Deal

So, Wheelenhancement informs me that the MilleMiglia Cup 3 (17" Turbo Twist) are a simple bolt-on for my ride. Their quote was $2000 for the package deal - including center caps.

Tirerack offered the following:
17x7.5 Mille Miglia Cup 3 2 @ $249.00 = $498.00
17x9 Mille Miglia Cup 3 2 @ $259.00 = $518.00
255/40ZR17 Pirelli PZero Rosso Asimmetrico N3 (Porsche OE) 2 @ $143.00 for $286.00
205/50ZR17 Pirelli PZero Rosso Asimmetrico N3 (Porsche OE) 2 @ $149.00 for $298.00

Total, including shiping of $1,650, but not including the center caps.

I yield to the board's expertise - is it worth getting replica wheels? I really like the idea of updated wheels, with no spacer requirement. I know they are cast, not forged, not as strong as some pricier wheels, and heavier, but the look is sweet!

Thanks!

So in essence the new wheel has to spacer built into it. Or does it actually have the offset?

Kool - the Miglias are supposedly the correct offset.

If these are for the street, I would not worry too much about a little extra weight. I mean how often are you pushing your car to 10/10ths on the street anyway?? I bought a set of used factory 17" wheels off another P-car owner with tires for only $1K, you might want to shop around if cosmetic perfection is not a absolute "must have".

Cheers,

Check my post called 17 in Twists for sale. You can get real Porsche Chrome Twists in the correct offset (Late) With Tires for less than that or right at that price 1500 plus shipping, in perfect like new condition. Not P Zeros though. Kumhos or Capitals on the tires but brand new.

I elected to go with the spacers and the Porsche wheels. All it took was one "heft" of the real thing to convince me that the light ones were the correct ones. Cost is higher, but you get what you pay for. Some of the aftermarket wheels are 5 lbs. heavier. Thats 20 lbs. on a set of four.

Question Turbo Twists

How do you know if Turbo Twists are real Porsche wheels or replicas? Bought a 951 with them already mounted, but don't know what to look for. Can anyone help? Thanks

Heavier wheels are always worst on the street. Look into something lighter.

Look for a Porsche part number on the back, you have to take them off though...

unclebobg - you can look for the offset and wheel width by the valve stem. the replicas don't have this, but the real porsche wheels do.

and you don't have to take them off!

Gundo,

I put the same wheels on my car. I went with yokohama's but that was because they were cheaper.

Yes, the are heavier but also yes they update the look of the car by a mile. If I get concerned over the weight I figure I can throw the FUCHS back on at anytime.

Tirerack may try to sell you 7.5's for all around by stick with the 9's in the back, it looks better IMHO.

Truthfully, if you're patient and don't mind using spacers, you can get by for cheaper buying used OEM Porsche wheels with tires off of Ebay and picking up some spacers. I was worried about spacers. Now if I ever find a deal on 17" Sport Classics then I'll have to change.
