I was wondering this as well.
I live across the way from a drag racing speed shop. I know the owner prefers American V8's but he's gotta be able to do what I want if I give him what I need....

You're going to want to stick with a turbo cam for your engine, Spencer. A performance NA cam will have to much overlap for a forced induction engine.

Also, Elgin Cams will grind you any profile you like. I haven't seen anyone on here with one of these, but I know Elgin gets good reviews on a couple of other forums (mostly old ford and chevy trucks).

They weld some hardface onto your stock cam, then custom grind it to any spec you want, or they have a profile for the 944 on file.

engle cams out in cali can also regrind a cam to what ever specs you want...

also if you change your cam profile you should find a way to tune the DME around it to gain the most power out of the cam...

its not like a chevy where you through in a cam and turn up the fuel a lil bit and offset the timing chain and get a good running motor and extra HP...

also if you are looking for more streetable power stay away from high lift cams these tend to throw valves on stock heads and give really high lobes make the car idle hard... again chip tuning is a must after a cam...

Not a must after a mild cam like the one in discussion.

Coming from the subaru racing world I know the importance of a proper tune. However, besides a megasquirt, there doesn't seem to be many options for the car.

Any standalone system would work, and I know of 5 of them.... I'm sure there are more.

and the stock ECU is tunable with not to expensive equipment....
