Here’s one I haven’t seen or heard before. I’m just passing it along for the general knowledge base.
So last weekend at CMP my car decided I no longer needed 4th gear. I had 1,3,5,R and sometimes 2. It just wouldn’t go into 4th. I limped back to the pits, checked the usual suspects in the linkage and shifter but drew blanks. After getting home I put it in the air and checked everything again and resigned myself to the fact it was an internal issue. So I started to pull the transmission. Turns out that one of the 2 bolts that holds the trans to the mount had snapped in two. The long piece was still there but backed out far enough to block the shifter linkage. The linkage perfectly blocked the view and I discovered it as I was pulling the safety wire out of the linkage bolt. The fix was as simple as unhooking the linkage for access and putting in a new 8x100 bolt. Race-ready again
