Post possible turbo gauge group purchase

i sent emails to north hollywood speedometer and palo alto speedometer on the possible group purchase of some gauges and recal work (as discussed in the interested in indiglo gauges post). i think another lister contacted speedhut racing on this topic too. heres the email i sent:

I would like more info on the services your company has to offer for a possible group purchase of at least twenty (possibly more) sets of guage faces and recal work for 944 turbo's. Here are some of the ideas that the group has come up with, please let me know if your company would be able to do these modifications and if you offer anything else we havent thought of:

-recal'ing speedo to 180 or 200 mph
-getting updated numerals (more modern as in the boxster) on all gauges
-recal'ing boost gauge to either 1bar=1 actual bar of boost or to a certain max psi of boost (say 20psi)
-once a layout has been agreed upon, can that be screened over black, white and indiglo gauges

If at all possible some pics of previous jobs in 944 or boxster applications would be great. I understand the info i gave you is pretty vague but a ballpark figure on a job like this woulds be great also.

Thank you,

ok heres the reply i got back from north hollywood speedometer. it sounds, pricewise, to be reasonable to me (remember you own a porsche) and they seem to be willing to work w/ us one a group purchase. can i get a show of hands on people who are interested, then we can start throwing around ideas.

Dear Dennis,

Our company does offer custom coloring and upgrading of speedometers or tachometers. We would not be able to supply replacement dial kits but would need the individual instrument cluster to have our service department perform the work. To achieve a high quality factory job we do reprint the original dials and do not use decals or layovers. Almost all color combinations can be offered. The average color job amounts to $ 395.00 plus shipping which includes custom calibrations of all instruments.A conversion of the speedometer or tachometer to a higher readout amounts to app. $ 55.00 each if done in combination with a coloring job.
An upgrade of the speedometer or tachometer without color change amounts to $ 110.00 each assuming the instruments are in good working condition.. Custom fonts can be applied and have been done by us on 911 instrumentation . We do not offer any indiglow dials.
1 bar or 21 psi ( 1.5 bar ) boost gauge changes are feasible however compatible sending units wolud have to be purchased from a Porsche dealer.
Attached please find some pictures of custom work done by us.
If you can arrange to have some of this work done as a group we will certainly work out a quantity discount situation.

Upon sending your instrument (instruments) please refer to our e-mail correspondence.
We do accept Visa, M/C or UPS COD, CASH.

Our shipping address:
North Hollywood Speedometer
6111 Lankershim Blvd.
North Hollywood, CA 91606
Phone: 818.761.5136

I like that 944 gauge set in the pic. Do you send them your entire gauge cluster and they redo it for you.
