How do u change door pulls ?

Default How do u change door pulls ?

I bought a special set of interior door pulls for my 944. how do u change these out ? Ive been looking for these for a LONG time.

There is a tiny screw behind the pull that holds the plastic surround behind the pull in place. With that gone you might be able to get the pull off, if not you're going to have to remove the door card.

I bought an old automotion catalog from 1997 off ebay last year and seen these in there and have been looking for them since.

Haha. I know! I saw them like two or three years ago online! I wonder if you could make them... Lol.

On topic, it is just a flat screw behind the door handle. Unscrew it, then the surrounding will come off, then you should see the screws that hold on the door pull itself.

So its a 5 minute job then ? I seen the small screw behind the handle I just wasnt sure about the 4 bolts around the pull.

Ha. Yea it's pretty simple. Bolts? I remember that they were just screws... lol. The pull is mounted onto a squarish metal bracket thing that just unscrews.

BEFORE you can get to the screw, you need to pull the handle out (like you're opening the door), use a small tiny screwdriver to open a little tab at the base of the handle (on the inside of it / between the handle and the door). Then you can pull the handle off the door.

I just checked clark's garage, and he doesn't have a diy for removing the handle, just for removing the door panel. In one pic you can see that he has these same door handles, LOL.
