Can you bend a valve by hand?
I am replacing belts, seals, water pump, the works on my 84NA I've had since new.
In trying to get the distribution rotor brass piece off with a vice grip I was able to rotate the camshaft maybe 1 or 2 teeth clockwise.
I wasn't appling alot of torque. Could I have damaged a valve?

Wow, an original owner of an '84 car! That's pretty cool. Do you ever take it to any of the local PCA events?

I seriously doubt you bent anything, especially with a set of vise grips...
However, good to see another CNY'er on the forum. I've got a 84NA, bought new... Mine's white though, 153k still going strong

I accidentally turned a DOHC interference higher compression Volvo cam 90 degrees without the belt. It was fine.
I would not at all be concerned about 1 or 2 teeth. Just be sure that everything is timed properly when you put on the belt and go to start it.

If the belt was on, the crank probably turned as well. If the crank was locked, then you streched a belt which would not happen..
I suspect you're A-OK.
