Power steering leak, actually gusher - Update: Please help!
Happened yesterday, I didn't have time to look at it so I threw it in the garage and brought out my truck.
Before I start into th eissue, what is suspect? what is known faulty? its a 1987 944 N/A.
The leak is coming out somewhere between the drivers front tire & the engine. When I add fluid it sprays right out in that general area. Like I said, I havent had a chance to really get under there just wondering what I should look at first as I will probably investigate/repair this weekend.
I hate having both of my fun cars in the garage right now, big trucks just aren't cool

It souunds like a seal leaking or one of your high pressure lines has a hole in it. If its a seal you can see what has to be done to fix it by going to <a href="http://www.rennbay.com" target="_blank">www.rennbay.com</a> and looking at the tutorials section. A seal leaking would cause your boots to fill with fluid also.
If its the high pressure line you will see it when you get under there and your boots will be free of fluid. If thats the case, for the price of a new line from porsche , you are better off getting a replacement piece of hose and fixing that one.

I do hope its a hose, a nice & easy fix would make my day
If I fill the reservoir with the car running (dont have to move the steering wheel) I can hear the fluid spray out with some force inbetween the front drivers tire & engine area. The puddle isn't just a drip puddle its small checmical spill!

the power steering lines are a combination of metal and rubber. the line that goes from the reservoir to the pump is rubber, from the pump is steering rack is rubber, and from the rack back to the reservoir is rubber with a metal cooler.
copper crush washers are used at the connections at the pump.

Update: Ok it is leaking from a broken hose pictured below. Is there anyway to remove this hose without removing the rack?

The inner hex seems so rusty that it wont hold a key, ill have to "muscle" it out and then get a replacement. Does anyone know which hose this is? Part #?

If its the hose you may have to "drop" your rack to get to it but thats not as hard as it may sound. I can give you the details on that if thats what it comes to.
Look up the Porsche part cost on a new hose and if its to outrageous contact me and I can put a new one together for you with a new banjo fitting.

Yep, its actually that hose, where it bends i can see the white fibers from the inner braid sticking out and the tear is visable.
If you have tips for easy rack removal it would be appreciated. If i get the hose off in one piece I can have the hydraulics guru's at work make up one for me.

if you still need them banjo's remember my site...
heres the low down on pulling the rack just enough to do what you need done.
Undo the steering rod to spline on the top of the rack and push it off to the side.
Put the front end of the car on jack stands/ramps.
Undo the 4 bolts in front holding the rack to the cross member. When the rack comes down the tires should toe in giving you enough room to work with the line. If thats still not enough,
pull back the boots and on the ball joints holding the arms to the rack you should see to "flats." I know its not the "correct" way to do it but I always use a big cresent wrench to unscrew these. I can never seem to find the right size end wrench for the job before the "adjustable" wrench catches my eye. If you do that your rack is off and the only thing holding onto it are the lines going back to the pump.
