I just got offered a 928 "gimme" with no engine.
while I understand the massive power loss and all......how hard would it be to fit the 944 engine to the 928 transaxle....alternately would doing a complete drivetrain swap be more viable?

I have an 84 944 that is nearly restored mechanically. But has miles to go on paint, body and interior.
I also have a full engine to transaxle spare driveline for the 944 that needs rebuilt......so Im a little invested in the 944 series already.
All my "spare money" (yeah right) is tied up in restoring my yacht. which I am about to drop 2 american small blocks in......so another engine is not an option at this time.....besides I dont like mixing makes. I dont mind having to walk noobs to the front of my car to show them the engine....I dont mind having to explain the watercooled porsche constantly.....but popping the hood to reveal a v8.... I would sooner buy a vette or camaro if I wanted an american car.
My buddy gave me a call right after I posted this......he's interested in solving my problem....if he can smooth it over with his misses....he wants to SBC it......If he gets enough chain from his ball Ill let him take it...its not the best time for me to start another project anyway.....but I will be suprised if it doesnt end in the car being parted out in 6 months......well...unless he gets a divorce before that LMAO
