man i really toasted that bearing! hahaha
so as i see it, crankshaft is burned up. prob not worth salvaging this engine. #4 cylinder is also scored from the debris.
so....who's got engine options for me? hehe.

Before you toss it, get the crank checked for being straight -- a rod pounding on a journal can distort them. If it's straight, have that journal cut to first undersize; if it's clean, all you need is one new rod, and new bearings.

yea but #4 is scored really bad. it'd need a new sleeve. we're not talking catching fingernail scores, we're talking visible chunk of scoring. close to mig welding spatter size.

I have an early motor I'd let go for $300. I bought it from a guy parting his car.
Or tell you what - $150 and give me the head and a few other parts from your engine.

Pic #2 is the inside of the bearing journal at the bottom of the rod...there should be a bearing where there is just carnage...
Looks like the rod threw up the bearing into the oil pan.... not good at all...

naw. rod cap was still securely bolted on. i have no idea how the thell the bearing shreded itself like that. as far as i can tell, there are no solid pieces left, only shavings.

Who put RTV all the way around your oil pan!!?
That right there is a clue - someone with limited understanding has been into that bottom-end before. When the RTV glob(s) break loose, they clog up anything and everything including an oil galley. Remember when using it, as much gushes in as gushes out.

Even IF your crank is salvageable, you would have to disassemble it to find out. And you'd have to do a complete rebuild from that point. It would be way cheaper to just replace the short block (or long block). If you want to make things interesting, you can put in a turbo! Or a 3.0L to keep it simpler.
$150 is a ridiculously good deal, if the cylinders are good get it!
