Smile Bought S2 off DeepICE - Pictures - Questions...

Took delivery on Tuesday night Here are a bunch of pictures I took last night.

<a href="http://www.barefamily.com/89POR944S2.htm" target="_blank">1989 944 S2 Pictures</a>

I am not sure what to do now - to part it out or try to put it back together and sell that way. If I parted it out how would I determine what everything is worth? Also what is the 3.0 liter engine worth and trans? The compression numbers on the engine are 1.190 2.195 3.180 4.200 - Tested 10/28/00. Car hasn't been driven since May 02. Apparently the od worm gear was broken so actual mileage is unknown - James guesstimates approx 230,000 to 260,000. Car has a new clutch on 1/21/02. The alternator was put in 3/30/01.

That car is really too nice to part out. I would put it back together.

I thought the "Deepice" S2 had over 300K miles? At least that was the legend... Love the color, btw, is that "Titanium Gray"?

Tough call. What are the chances of the engine needing a rebuild soon?

Are you a track person? Track cars are fun, but never make financial sense, so you'd have a head start with a $3K car.

OTOH, since your other car is a 951, you might enjoy having an S2 as a second street car. I know I do.

Not sure about the 315,000 mile legend - When he showed me the broken od I asked if the 3 hundred number was just an estimation and he said yes and most likely it was less than that maybe 260 or 230.

I am not exactly sure what those compression numbers mean as far as the engine rebuild schedule - hoping someone will clue me in

I haven't tried running on a track yet and unfortunately don't have the money to devote to a third car for track use only.

I hate to part it out because the body seems so nice. I need to figure out how much it is worth if I go that route too - might not be worth it.

It would be a shame to part it out all the way, that would be another 944 that disapears...

I think with a strait body someone should either put it back together or make a track car...

But if you do part her out, I would buy the front hubs and spidles from you, I have been looking for late hubs and spidles for a while....

That is a nice shell... if I only had the cash...

My vote goes to try to put it back together and not part it out... too bad you do not want or cannot make it into a track car...

I wish I had that shell...

Part it out. One less 944 in the world means in the next Excellence the market value of all of our cars will go up .1 percent.

That car has potential. Beautiful color. Put her back together! Better yet, I'll trade you solid, running 85.5 for it straight up. (See avatar)

I love a good jigsaw puzzle.

Option Codes
454 Automatic speed control
533 Alarm system
573 Air conditioner
593 Antilock brake system
650 Sunroof
946 Leather/leatherette seats

Thanks for the offer 944Pete - This would definetly be quite a puzzle to assemble - Send me some more pics of your car and we'll make a deal

Anyone have any ideas on what the parts are worth??

Transmission - $1000??
Engine - $750??
Turbo front end - $350??
Interior carpet - $250??
Wheels - $400??

Anyone interested in a great track car

Does the tranny have LSD? Even so with that kind of mileage 1000 is a little high, with out it is way high.

Wheels, you could probably get a bit more than 400 for.

And carpet for 250 would be fair for all the pieces...

As always with this sort of thing it is what ever people are willing to pay...

But still I think you should sell off all the parts not nessarary for a race car and then sell her off that way...
